Logging Into A Microsoft Account for First Time Setup

  1. Open a Google Chrome browser in Incognito mode to ensure no active accounts are logged in.
    1. Open the start menu by clicking on the Windows Logo in the taskbar.
    2. Search for Chrome in the search bar at the top.
    3. On the right hand side, select "New Incognito Window" 

  2. Navigate to the Microsoft Account webpage
  3. Enter your CESA 6 email address and select "Next."

  4. You will be redirected to the CESA 6 login page. Enter your provided password and select "Sign in".
  5. You will be prompted to update your password. Enter your provided password in the "current password" section. Then enter your new password into the two following sections. If your password is not sufficiently complex (minimum of 8 characters, mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols) or does not match, you will be prompted to correct it any try again.
  6. Once you have entered the passwords, select "Sign in".
  7. It will prompt you to stay signed in. Select "No".
  8. You will then be prompted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication. To install the Microsoft Authenticator:
    1. Scan the QR code with your phone to download the Microsoft Authenticator on your phone.

  9. Go to the Security info page of your account dashboard. 
  10. Select Add sign-in method.
  11. Choose the "Microsoft Authenticator" app from the dropdown.
  12. If you already have Authenticator installed on your phone, select Next to display a QR code.
  13. Open Authenticator on your phone and select the plus icon and select Add account.
  14. Select Work or school account then tap Scan a QR Code.
  15. You will then be prompted to set up phone sign-in using the authenticator. Follow the prompts and enter the two digit code to verify it is working properly.
